Deal to Set Up a Steel Mill in Brazil

CBSteel entered into a letter
of intent with the government of Maranhao, Brazil. Under the terms of the
agreement, the company plans to invest USD 3.5 billion to set up a steel mill
in Brazil which has an annual designed production capacity of 3 million tons.
CBSteel also plans to make an additional investment of USD 4.5 billion in the
Brazilian mill to increase the latter's annual production capacity to 10

International Investment Co Ltd. is discussing with Companhia Siderúrgica
Nacional (BOVESPA:CSNA3) to acquire 20% to 25% stake in Congonhas Minérios S.A.
Companhia Siderúrgica is hoping to sell minority stake in Congonhas Minérios for
$30 billion to $35 billion and the deal will depend on CSN's ability to secure
long-term contracts from CBSteel.
